Ibn Sina's authority rests on comprehensive, reasoned synthesis — a mind moving fluidly from a patient's fever to the structure of the cosmos, trusted for centuries partly because it hung together so coherently. Pasteur would consider that trust premature: his own career was built on showing that plausible, even ancient, ideas like spontaneous generation could be simply wrong, and that only a controlled, repeatable test earns belief — a standard by which much of the Canon's confident synthesis never faced real trial.
