Frequently asked questions
How the table works
- What is MentorMinds?
- A place to hold mastermind conversations with AI-simulated mentors — historical figures grounded in their documented writings and lives, plus mentors our community creates. Seat one, or convene a table of up to five, and ask what you are carrying.
- How do messages (credits) work?
- Every mentor reply costs one message credit. Ask a full table of four and all four answer — that exchange uses four credits, because four mentors each compose a reply. Direct a question to a single mentor and only they answer, costing one. If a reply fails mid-stream, the credit is automatically refunded.
- Why does a table reply cost more than a single mentor?
- Each mentor at the table writes their own full reply in their own voice — including reacting to what the others said. You are paying per counsel received, not per question asked. When you want depth from one mind instead of range from several, direct your question to a single mentor.
- How do I get more messages?
- Monthly and annual plans refill your balance each cycle, and message packs top it up anytime — see pricing. Your current balance lives in Account → Usage.
- Do unused messages roll over?
- Yes. Messages never expire — each billing cycle adds your plan’s allotment to whatever you still have, and pack purchases stack on top.
- Are the mentors really them?
- No. Every mentor is an original AI simulation. Platform mentors are grounded in the public record — writings, speeches, documented lives — but are not the real people and are not affiliated with or endorsed by them or their estates. Counsel is for learning and reflection, not professional, medical, or financial advice.
- What are custom mentors?
- Mentors you create yourself from the guided builder: real or imagined, famous or family. They know only what you write — MentorMinds adds nothing from outside — and they stay private to your account unless you share them with the community.
- What happens when I share a mentor with the community?
- It enters a review queue. Our reviewers check the ground rules: characters must be fictitious or clearly based-on-but-not a real person, any real person portrayed must be deceased, and you must hold rights to any photo. Approved mentors appear in the Community tab for everyone; you get an email either way, with the reason if a submission is declined.
- Are my conversations private?
- Yes. Conversations, notes, and saved quotes are private to your account. Sharing is opt-in: a conversation is only visible to others if you create a share link, and you can revoke it anytime.
- Can I print or export a conversation?
- Yes — print any conversation straight from the browser (it formats itself for paper) or download it as JSON from the share menu.
